The I-X Piston Power Show and Excalibur Auto Body presents the largest indoor showcase of cars, bikes, and planes in Ohio under one roof at the I-X Center September 30-October 2, 2011. Go back in time with a cavalcade of classic cars, get green with envy at a custom-built Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and put yourself in the pilot’s seat of a B-17 vintage airplane. Over 1,000 piston-powered machines will be on display!
If just looking isn’t enough, the I-X Piston Power Show will have plenty of interactive elements to get you in the driver’s seat! The Mid-Ohio School Honda Civic Skid Car is a unique defensive driving mechanism aimed at teaching individuals how to control a vehicle in adverse weather conditions. This feature is free and will take place outside in the I-X Center East parking lot, weather permitting. The school will also bring their iRacing.com Simulator, used by motorsports legends like Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Scott Pruett. Attendees will be able to take a few laps at their favorite racetrack virtually!
Would you rather take to the skies? Be sure to tour the one of the planes featured in the 1990 film Memphis Belle, a beautifully restored B-17 bomber. If you want to truly test out your pilot skills, a M4 Flight Simulator Ride will be onsite where you can “fly” a P-51 or Jet Inceptor at no additional charge.
Lincoln Electric Company presents a special appearance by auto designer Chip Foose. Foose, the owner of Foose Design, is a three-time top hot rod Ridler Award winner and star of the hit TV show, Overhaulin’. Foose will appear on the main stage on Saturday, October 1, at 2:00 pm. Foose will also participate in the ‘Chip’s Choice’ competition, selecting his favorite pick of vehicles at the show.
The Star Cars return to the I-X Piston Power Show! Be sure to grab your photo next to the General Lee, the Barney Fife Police Car, Knight Rider, and many more. Don’t miss Bumblebee from the popular Transformers movie franchise!
The All-American Soap Box Derby makes its I-X Piston Power Show debut, featuring a 250 foot long Indoor Rally track to conduct side-by-side racing. Registrants from around the country will be competing for trophies and points over the course of the weekend. Soap Box Derby races are held in 150 communities around the world, culminating at the championship finals in Akron, Ohio.
Kids can learn about construction in the gravel pit!
