Metta Rose Dance Academy

All Dance Studios are Not the Same!

August 16, 2012

School and extracurricular activities are starting up again.  If you are thinking about enrolling your child in dance class, don’t automatically choose the closest or least expensive studio; look for quality not just convenience.  When choosing a studio, you should look into many factors.  Make sure to ask questions!  Check the teachers’ background.  Who actually teaches the class? What age levels do they teach? What is the length and size of a class? What are you paying for?  Will your child truly learn the art of dance or will it just be a play activity once a week?

The Metta Rose Dance Academy is the dance studio you should trust with your child’s dance education!  The studio is getting ready for its 36th year of operation.  Miss Metta’s qualifications include being the sole instructor for the academy’s entire business life.  She has danced with the Cleveland Ballet, New York City Ballet, and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes.  She has performed in numerous stage musicals as well.  Miss Metta offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, pre-ballet and toddler tap.  This is for ages 3 to 18 in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Why is the Metta Rose Dance Academy Different?  Miss Metta’s philosophy for dance education is unique because she looks to not only teach children dance skills, but to instill confidence in dance and all aspects of life.  The studio’s environment is family-oriented and often becomes like a second home to her students.  Miss Metta teaches dance through positive correction, nurturing, and support – she is not going to teach as a drill sergeant.  Your child will have fun and look forward to dance class.

Miss Metta is proud of the fact that she teaches the correct terminology for all types of dance.  Class size is limited to between 10 and 12 students, so that each child gets individual attention.  Class times are an hour long and focus on one type of dance at a time compared to some studios that will teach two types of dance jammed into one 45 minute class.  The academy is located in North Ridgeville and welcomes students from all over Cleveland.  Your child will have the time and attention to learn the proper dance technique and advancement in a structured but relaxed and fun environment.

Here are the thoughts of some students that have graduated from the academy:

Well after 10 years dancing and countless hours of sweat, blood, tears, and at times drama, I have performed in my last "official" show with Metta Rose Dance Academy! I will never forget the friendships made, and the bond formed between Metta and I. I will cherish every memory and look forward to competitions next year, and helping backstage next show ;) I love everyone at MRDA and wish everyone luck in years to come!” – Rachel

“I’m going to miss being in your studio very much! I’ve gotten close to a lot of the girls and I feel so welcome there.  I didn’t have an experience like that at my other studio.  The most important thing I learned being in your studio is that dance is FUN!” – Jennifer

“The self confidence that you have provided both of my girls through dance is truly a treasure that I am forever grateful for” - Carla, parent of a recent academy graduate and current student
