Wednesday Preschool Safaris

Sometimes it’s our smallest guests that have the biggest questions.  Feed your toddler’s curiosity with our 90-minute Preschool Safaris.  Each Wednesday in October and November (excluding November 21) a new Preschool Safari begins. Children under the age of five and their favorite adult will venture out with their very own Safari Leader and learn all about animal movement, body coverings, similarities and differences and so much more. Each program includes hands on activities and a small animal encounter.

Upcoming Safaris:

October 3, Mammals and Me

What do you have in common with a bear, camel and wolf? Come learn what makes an animal a mammal and meet some of the zoo's smaller mammals.

October 10, Amazing African Animals

You've heard of the king of the jungle, but what African animal truly wears a crown on its head? Find out as we explore the African savanna and the beautiful animals that make it unique.

Homeschool Programming

Beginning in September 2012, Homeschool Programs are coming to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! Programs will meet monthly for grades K-8. All programs will take place in the Jungle Lab classroom located in The RainForest. Programs are fun, interactive, and educational!

This Fall we will explore the differences between animal groups. Through hands-on activities and inquiry-based discussions, your children will learn the basics of animal classification. Programs may include get-close animal encounters, crafts, guided tours, and other activities tailored to both the topic and age group.

Upcoming Topics:

September — Animal Adaptations
Have you ever wondered why some animals fly, some walk, and some can even walk across snow? Learn how each can do what they do to survive!

October — Slimy and Slithery
Reptiles and amphibians often get a bad reputation, from poison dart frogs to boa constrictors. Learn about these two different groups of animals and what makes them each unique!
